At the end of the year, it’s always fun to look back and see what this past year has brought to our family. The year 2016, although much better than 2015, was still very much a year of healing for my family. I went into 2016 with high hopes, being the optimistic person I am. However, it was still a very difficult year. I am happy to say that we’re closing out 2016 on a brighter note. Although I’m still healing and recovering from our car accident almost two years ago, a lot of weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I hope to be writing more about my recovery after the New Year. So with that, let’s take a look back on 2016.
January — We welcomed a new addition to our family! Our sweet German Shepherd puppy, Belle. She’s been so much fun. We love our little Belle!
Like many of my fellow blogger friends, I chose a word for 2016. I also had a follow-up appointment with my neurosurgeon, which was pretty difficult emotionally for me.
February — All about love this month! I shared some fun non-candy Valentines for kids, as well as a free Valentines Day Printable for you, and a DIY Valentines Day printable for your kids!
We also took a much needed vacation to the Happiest Place on Earth, Disney World! I recapped our trip of Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom.
March — I was invited to the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration, and shared how much that meant to me.
Our sweet pup, Belle began puppy training classes. We made it a family affair and included Lincoln. He loved training his puppy!
We ended the month celebrating Easter at my parents house.
April — I was so excited to be attending Disney Social Media Moms Celebration the following month, that I created a fun printable countdown calendar! Unfortunately my excitement was short lived when I re-fractured my left femur, which was related to our car accident the year before. I had to sadly cancel our invite to DSMMC, while I had surgery to repair my femur. Despite my extreme disappointment, I pushed through, as I always do.
May — I recapped our Disney Kids Preschool Playdate we had the previous month. I also had another surgery on my femur, this time double stacked with plates for extra support. Most of my month was spent recovering, however I did manage to whip up some “Thank You Teacher” Printables and “Last Day of School” Printables. On May 20, 2016, Jared and I celebrated 9 years of marriage
June — We took it easy this month with me still recovering. I shared some silly stories about our crazy cat, Oliver and some adorable photos of my boys splashing up a storm!
My sweet boy, Lincoln celebrated his LAST DAY OF KINDERGARTEN — and he continues to make me so, so proud.
I started the #AveryandBelle Hashtag on Instagram because of the sweet photos I continuously captured of these two
Annnnd finally, I told you all why “Your Baby’s First Haircut Should Be at Walt Disney’s Harmony Barbershop.”
July — We celebrated the Fourth of July. We also did a few day trips to visit Lake Compounce and LEGOLAND Discovery Center.
I created a printable Disney World Countdown Calendar and we visited Edaville USA!
August — I celebrated my 35th birthday and shared some Back-to-School Printables for the upcoming year. We capped off our summer vacation with a visit to Story Land and Santa’s Village in New Hampshire!
September — Lincoln started FIRST GRADE and I created a Fall Bucket List Printable.
October — We visited a nearby pumpkin patch and I created a DIY Evil Queen Costume based on the character Regina Mills from Once Upon a Time.
November — I posted on World Kindness Day about simply “having the courage to be kind.” My sweet Avery bug turned 3-years-old.
Annnd just five days later, my Lincoln turned 7-years old!
December — I shared our gorgeous Holiday Cards from Minted, and a few family photos recently taken. We got in the Christmas spirit with decorating our house, and took our annual trip on The Polar Express. I still need to blog about our very merry Christmas, but we have one more celebration this coming weekend!
What a year! I’m happy to start 2017. I’m looking forward and I’m excited for many new things for our family this year. Thank you all for reading my little blog that I love so much. I wish you all many happy memories this New Year! Cheers to 2017!!
