It seems that it’s always at the start of a new year when we are very motivated to attempt to save money. Some may call it a resolution, or a goal. Unfortunately, a lot of us don’t stick to those goals for too long. However, there are many EASY ways to save money every day. Some of these ideas, although they may be small, will certainly add up overtime! I don’t know about you, but I would much rather keep my money in my pocket than someone else’s. Here are a few money saving tips you can implement this new year.
Easy Ways to Save Money:
— Meal plan. This is something I’m REALLY trying to be better at this year. More often than I’d like to admit, we don’t have a plan for dinner. This leads to not only unhealthy eating, but also spending unnecessary money on fast food. I am trying to be better at looking at the sales flyers for the week, and basing our weekly meals off of that.
— Drink more water. This is something I am trying to do both at home, as well as when we go out to eat. Water is just about the healthiest thing you can put into your body. Avoid sugary drinks by adding a splash of fruit in your glass, for naturally fruit infused water. When you are at a restaurant, ordering a water is a much healthier option, and will easily save you a few dollars per person!
— Turn off the TV. Who is notorious for leaving the television on all day/night long, even if you’re not watching it? My husband is AWFUL with this!! He says he needs the “background noise,” but really, it’s a bad habit to get used to. It’s wasting energy, and wasting your money!
— Pack your lunch or coffee. Do you know how quickly that daily latte can add up each week? Instead, purchase a cute reusable tumbler, and bring your coffee. The same goes for your lunch. Buying your lunch everyday will add up quickly. Save money buy packing your lunch!
— Save with Direct Energy. Direct Energy offers a fixed-rate energy plan, meaning your rate will not fluctuate. Direct Energy has special offers in Connecticut in the month of January. Save up to 25% over United Illuminating’s electricity rate, and up to 18% over Eversource’s electricity rate.
*All savings refers to the current difference between Direct Energy’s fixed rate offer and the Utility’s current Fixed Rate for Basic Service as of January 8, 2016, and does not include any other component of the electricity bill. Utility rates are subject to change and there may be no savings following the respective official utility rate change date. Direct Energy’s fixed rates include electricity supply charges only and excludes delivery/transmission charges, taxes, and all other utility-related charges. Offer is limited and valid for new residential customers only.* See what’s available in your area by visiting DirectEnergy.com.
