With the holidays over, and the start of a brand new year, stress worries should be over, right? Oh how I wish that were true. The funny thing about stress, no matter what, it always seems to sneak up on us. It feels as if it’s always welcome. Don’t you wish we had a little button we could just magically click to turn stress off? That would be lovely. While we may not have a programmable on/off switch, here are 10 ways to help you reduce stress.

10 Ways to Reduce Stress

1.  Exercise:  There is nothing like a good workout. Not only is it healthy, it makes you feel good! I have been receiving physical therapy three times per week, since this past June. One of my sessions is on land, while the other two are in the water. It is HARD work. But you know what? It makes me feel good inside. And, it’s making my body stronger. Win win!

2.  Use Essential Oils: Certain scents like lavender are great for reducing stress levels. Add a few drops to a diffuser, and discover the benefits of aromatherapy.

3.  Sunlight: Oh for the love of Vitamin D. Our bodies crave it! There is nothing like some natural sunlight to pick up your mood.

4.  Color. Nope. I’m not kidding one bit. I’m sure you are well-aware of the “adult coloring book” craze that’s going on right now. My mom tucked one into my stocking this year, and it was one of my favorite gifts. Coloring is super relaxing and let’s your mind rest.
5.  Snuggle your pet. It’s a known fact that animals are great stress reducers. I mean, wouldn’t this face make you feel better in no time?
6. Take a nap. Not getting enough rest can do a number on your body. As a busy mom, there are nights I only manage to get a couple of hours of sleep. Sometimes it’s best to recharge and take a midday snooze.
7. Have a dance party. I love turning up the music and letting loose with my kids! Get your boogie on, and have fun!
8.  Read. I love to curl up with a good book and a nice hot cup of tea or coffee. It allows you to escape reality for a bit.
9. Write. Keep a journal, or even a blog! Writing your thoughts and feelings down is a great stress reliever.
10. Natrol 5-HTP Fast Dissolve. These drug-free, rapid dissolving tablets work in the brain and central nervous system by increasing the production of the chemical seratonin. It supports calmness throughout your body when experiencing stress and anxiety.
