My sweet boy Lincoln,
Monday morning, November 23, 2009, 8:43 AM. A day and time I will never forget. One of the most happiest days of my life. The day you made me a Mommy. I’m having a hard time grasping that was 8 whole years ago! How are you that big already?!
You have grown by leaps and bounds this year, and you continuously make me proud each day. You are now in second grade, at a brand new school this year! I never worried for a second about you adjusting to a much bigger school and making new friends. I knew you would rock it…and YOU DID!! I am SO SO very happy with how happy YOU are at your new school! You LOVE to learn, and I hope that never changes.
Science and Math are still your favorite subjects, but you’ve also really gotten into reading this year! Your very favorite book series is Captain Underpants! You enjoy reading each night before bedtime. I remember doing the exact same thing at your age!
You still enjoy participating in sports; basketball, baseball, and soccer again this year. BUT, you’ve recently started playing hockey, and oh my goodness you are having the time of your life! You’re really loving the time you’re spending with your Dad, bonding and playing hockey together — and I know your Daddy loves it even more!
You still love your video games, Pokemon, Minecraft, and Mario. You recently started to become obsessed with Nerf guns. You cannot wait until we move into our new house so you can set up the basement into a battle arena!
You are still my amazing little world class traveler. Road trips, airplanes, cruise ships — you’re in your element! I look forward to many more adventures with you in the future.
As much as your little brother drives you crazy, you are incredibly protective of him, and so very patient. He idolizes you so much, and it’s amazing to watch your relationship develop.
You are the most genuine person I have ever met — and how lucky am I that you’re my son! You have the kindest heart. Everything about you radiates kindness and compassion. You may only be 8 years old, but you are incredibly wise. You have the power to teach the world great things — and I know you will!
Never change, my sweet Lincoln. Never stop being you. You are one in a million! You are so very, very loved. Thank you for making me a Mommy. Thank you for being my sweet boy. Happiest 8th birthday, my Lincoln. I love you to infinity and beyond “and never stop.”
