Walt Disney once said, “Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we’re curious…and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” I love this quote, because even today, it still defines Disney perfectly. One thing I love about Disney is it’s always evolving. There is always something new on the horizon. Disney is always 10 steps ahead of everyone else, and that is one reason why people keep coming back. They want more. While I was in NYC last week for the Disney Social Media Celebration On-The-Road Event, we were treated to learning about new and upcoming additions to Disney Parks. Today I’m really excited to share 5 of my favorite new things coming to Disney World in Fall 2019.
What’s New at Disney World in Fall 2019?
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
First and foremost, let’s talk about the highly anticipated opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios August 29th. Surely this is at the top of everyone’s list, and I am incredibly eager to walk in that land. Galaxy’s Edge is unlike any addition in Disney history. Guests will truly live their own Star Wars stories, and be fully immersed into the entire experience. Star Wars Land will open with one ground breaking attraction, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. Have you ever wanted to pilot the Millennium Falcon? Now’s your chance! Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, a second attraction opening later in 2019, will put guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.
Disney’s Skyliner System
Have you ever wished to take a gondola ride high above Walt Disney World Resort? Beginning this Fall, you can! The Disney Skyliner, a state-of-the-art gondola system, will begin gliding guests across the sky in custom cabins. Disney Skyliner will conveniently connect Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot to four resort hotels – Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort and Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, as well as the 15th Disney Vacation Club property, Disney’s Riviera Resort. Several Disney Skyliner gondolas will be adorned with graphics based on Disney films, attractions or characters.
NBA Experience
Beginning August 12th, basketball is officially “in season,” when the NBA Experience celebrates its grand opening at Disney Springs! The one-of-a-kind destination features 13 unique interactive and hands-on experiences where Disney magic merges with the thrills of the NBA and WNBA. NBA Experience will span 44,000 square feet of basketball action and fun. This sounds like a great addition to Disney Parks, and I bet will be even more popular on a rainy Disney day!
Epcot Forever
Epcot’s nighttime spectacular, “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth,” is coming to a close. Debuting October 1st, “Epcot Forever” will offer a new show celebrating the past, present and future of Epcot, built around the magical soundtrack guests have come to know and love at the park. The new show will feature fireworks, lasers and choreographed special-effect kites accompanied by a stirring collection of songs celebrating Epcot.
Disney’s Riviera Resort
Disney Vacation Club’s 15th property is scheduled to open in December 2019! This deluxe Disney Vacation Club Resort will offer approximately 300 family-friendly vacation homes. Disney’s Riviera Resort will include deluxe studios, one- and two-bedroom villas, grand villas, that sleep up to 12 guests each, and a new, unique accommodation, Tower Studios. This Resort is designed to capture the magic of Europe that Walt Disney fell in love with once upon a time. Disney’s Riviera Resort offers Skyliner transportation, enabling guests easy access to Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. As a Disney Vacation Club Member, I am SO EXCITED for this new Resort! The photos look breathtaking, and I cannot wait to visit!
As exciting as I am for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, I am even MORE excited for Riviera Resort! This classic 20th century Resort looks stunning!
What new magical additions to Disney World are you most looking forward to?
Special thanks to the Disney Parks Team for inviting me to a magical day at the #DisneySMC On-The-Road NYC Event! See you real soon!
