All opinions are my own.
Homeschooling my children is something that has always intrigued me, but I never thought we’d actually do it. Both of my children have always been happy going to school, so why mess with a good thing?
We started this school year out with distance learning for both Lincoln and Avery. They had both been doing school this way since March, and we weren’t comfortable sending them back in person. For our family, this seemed like the best option.
While Lincoln, my now 5th grader, was able to jump right back into the routine distance learning, Avery, my now 1st grader, struggled. He was not happy and getting him motivated to participate was a battle. I tried virtual learning for the first 2 weeks of school with him. I wanted to give it a shot. Maybe things would improve? Ultimately, I decided to homeschool him myself for the school year. We jumped in head first and it’s been so much better for us both!
Homeschooling is new for us, so we’re taking things super simple and day by day, but I’m amazed at how well he’s adapted. He is also 110% happier, which makes it even more worth it.
Why We Love Webber HearBuilder as Part of our Homeschool Curriculum
One of Avery’s favorite online learning programs is Webber HearBuilder. It’s extremely interactive, which is why he enjoys it so much. HearBuilder works on improving auditory memory, phonological awareness, following directions, and sequencing skills. It’s geared for students PreK to 8th grade.
Like most kids, Avery has a favorite on HearBuilder. Hands down, he enjoys Auditory Memory the most. He loves pretending to be a top secret agent and going on new missions. He sometimes has trouble with his comprehension when reading because he simply doesn’t pay attention. However, when he uses this application, he is fully engaged and able to identify exactly what they’re looking for.
I think we can all agree that if a child is having fun while they’re learning, they are much more likely to fully grasp and apply the concept.
