Well, we’re officially all moved to Rhode Island. It’s going great so far. Super busy getting everything in order, but good. We’ll be living with my parents until our house is finished being built. It’s not the easiest setup, but it allows Lincoln to start the school year off in his new district — that’s really all that matters.
Earlier this week we packed the boys up for a surprise overnight getaway. When I thought about it, I realized the four of us haven’t been on a vacation in 3 years. In other words, since before our car accident. Yes, we’ve vacationed since. However, it’s always been with my parents for the extra help — not just us.
I do love traveling with my parents, but I think it’s important to also do stuff with just us four.
Jared received a free nights stay at Foxwoods in the mail, so we cashed in on that. It might sound weird taking the kids to a casino, but there’s a ton to do there that doesn’t involve gambling!
We made the entire trip about them…and had the best time ever! The boys are always excited to stay in a hotel, so that was exciting in itself for them. We also spent quite a bit of time (and money) in the arcade.
We made a reservation at The Sugar Factory. They’re famous for their crazy drinks. We certainly over-indulged, but the sheer excitement from Lincoln and Avery made it worth the splurge.
Although it was only one night we were away, it was the perfect amount of time to escape. To do something a little special for our little boys. This summer has been quite hectic with moving and building our house, on top of everything else we have going on. A spur of the moment, surprise getaway was very much needed — for all of us!
