After attending several Creation Entertainment conventions for The Vampire Diaries, I finally ventured into a new fandom this June when my son Avery and I attended The Road So Far…The Road Ahead Supernatural Convention in Boston from June 12-14, 2026.
What made this convention especially meaningful is that we were brand-new members of the Supernatural fandom. Last fall, we were searching for a new television series to watch together. For years, Avery and I have made it a tradition to watch a show together every evening, and Supernatural quickly became our next obsession.
Fifteen seasons is an ambitious commitment, but we were completely invested in the Winchester brothers’ journey. Somehow, we managed to finish all 15 seasons the week before the convention, meaning every character, storyline, and emotional moment was still fresh in our minds when we arrived in Boston.
A First-Time Supernatural Convention Attendee
Having attended three Creation Entertainment conventions centered around The Vampire Diaries, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect from a Supernatural event. Fortunately, many of the things I already appreciated about Creation were present from the moment we arrived.
The convention was organized and easy to navigate, with a welcoming atmosphere that immediately made us feel at home. One thing that stood out right away was the amount of cosplay. While cosplay certainly exists at other fan conventions, it felt especially prominent within the Supernatural fandom.
The sense of community was undeniable. Whether fans had been watching since 2005 or, like us, had only recently discovered the series, everyone seemed eager to share their love of the show.
Meeting the Cast of Supernatural
One of the biggest highlights of the weekend was meeting many of the actors who helped bring Supernatural to life. Our photo op lineup included Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins, Mark Sheppard, Jensen and Jared with Baby, Jensen and Misha, and Misha with Alex Calvert.
As someone who regularly interviews celebrities, I don’t often find myself starstruck. However, meeting Jensen Ackles was a completely different experience. After spending months watching Dean Winchester’s journey unfold across 15 seasons, standing in front of Jensen for the first time felt surprisingly surreal.
Another memorable moment came during our photo op with Jared Padalecki. Before the photo was taken, Jared asked if he could give me a hug. It was such a genuine and kind interaction, and one that perfectly reflected the warmth that fans often describe when talking about meeting him.
One of our favorite interactions of the entire weekend came with Mark Sheppard, who portrayed Crowley on the series. During a table selfie session, Mark spent several minutes chatting with Avery about music. As a drummer himself, Mark shared advice and encouragement with Avery, who has been playing piano for several years. It was a thoughtful interaction that neither of us will soon forget.
Watching My Son Find His Voice
While meeting the cast was certainly exciting, the most meaningful part of the weekend had nothing to do with photo ops. Throughout the convention, Avery stepped up to the microphone and asked questions during five separate panels featuring Sebastian Roché, Alex Calvert, Mark Sheppard, Ruth Connell, and Richard Speight Jr. As a parent, watching him participate was incredibly rewarding.
Like many children whose early school years were impacted by the pandemic, Avery struggled in social situations for a long time. Over the past year, however, I’ve watched him grow more confident, and conventions like this have played a role in that journey.
What impressed me most wasn’t simply that he asked questions. It was how comfortable he was doing it. He engaged naturally with the actors, exchanged jokes, and genuinely seemed to enjoy the experience.

Accessibility at the Supernatural Convention
As a wheelchair user, accessibility is always an important consideration when attending large events. I’m happy to report that navigating the convention was remarkably easy. Creation Entertainment has designated ADA volunteers stationed at photo ops who help attendees through the process and ensure everything runs smoothly.
The photo ops themselves were incredibly accessible. Cast members naturally adjusted poses to create great photos, and at no point did I feel limited by being in a wheelchair.
In fact, after the convention, another wheelchair user reached out to thank me for sharing my experience. She admitted she had worried that photo ops might look awkward because of the height differences between herself and the actors. Seeing our photos gave her confidence to attend future events herself.
For anyone with mobility concerns who may be considering a Creation convention, I would absolutely recommend the experience.
Would I Attend Another Supernatural Convention?
Absolutely.
As a first-time attendee, The Road So Far…The Road Ahead exceeded my expectations. From the welcoming fan community to the memorable cast interactions, the convention offered everything I hoped for and more. Most importantly, it gave my son and me the opportunity to celebrate a series we had just finished experiencing together. Supernatural may have ended its television run in 2020, but after spending a weekend surrounded by passionate fans, it’s clear that the show’s legacy is still very much alive.
If you’ve ever considered attending a Creation Entertainment convention, my advice is simple: do it. Even if you’re unsure, consider purchasing a single-day pass to see if it’s right for you. You might just find yourself planning your next convention before the weekend is over.
