Snow Day Activities For Kids

Winter is here!!! Don’t be fooled by the exclamation points, I am not excited about that. I’m not a fan of frigid temperatures. I sort of wish we could just live in the south during the wintertime. Let the kids have one good snowfall, and then head to some place much warmer than New England! But, we’d miss our family and friends, so we’re not going anywhere. Although my kids love to play in the snow, there’s some days where it’s much too cold for them to enjoy the snowy weather — yesterday it was 2 degrees!! BRRRRR!!! It’s always a good idea to have fun Snow Day Activities planned ahead of time. Here are a few of our family’s favorites.

Board Games — An old family favorite. I remember having family game days (and nights!) with my parents and brother when I was a kid. It was always a fun time. At 7 years old, Lincoln is at such a great age for board games. We always have a blast!

Puzzles — Another favorite from my childhood. I was one of those kids who could NEVER breakdown a puzzle once it was completed. That masterpiece had to be glued and framed!!

Salt Dough Handprints — I made these with Lincoln when he was younger, but I really should do them again…and with Avery too! They also make fantastic gifts!

Bake Cookies — I’m not talking about baking them from one of those pre-made mixes either. Go all out and make them from scratch!! Your kids will love it — and you’ll have fun too!

Arts & Crafts — Time to get creative! Think outside the box…make paper snowflakes or do some science experiments! Last year I made a terrarium with Lincoln. He loved it so much, and really enjoyed watching the grass grow indoors!

Of course you’ll need to take a break from your fun activities to have a snack. My kids are huge fans of Goldfish crackers. With no artificial flavors or preservatives, it’s a snack I can feel good about serving my kids.

Once you’re finished with your snack, head HERE to make a fun stop-motion video together. You’ll create smile worthy moments, and be entered to win $5000! Let me know how you make out…I’d love to see your smile worthy creations!!

We don't have snow where we live, but rainy days do come every once and awhile. One of our favorite indoor activities is exploding volcanoes. White vinegar + dish soap + baking soda = HUGE bubbles and foam. Plus the clean up is a cinch since all the ingredients also double as cleaning products. 😉
