Looking for a way to keep your kids accountable with their reading this summer? I’ve got you covered with this free printable summer reading log!
Let’s hear it for summertime! But in all honesty, this summer is going to look way different for our family. We usually travel at least once during the summer. Last year we even decided on booking a last minute cruise right before our kids went back to school. This summer, we’re not going anywhere.
We had rescheduled our April Disney vacation to July, and even though Disney will be open the week before we are supposed to arrive, we decided it would be best to cancel. There are just a lot of unknowns right now, and I’m choosing to be extra safe.
That’s not to say we still won’t have a fun summer! I’m hoping to plan some fun activities for my boys. Some of our favorite memories can be made right at home.
One thing I am incorporating into our summer routine is reading. In all honesty, I’m looking into a few at home educational resources for them to keep up with this summer. I’m not sure where the world will be in the fall. There’s a possibility schools won’t be open, and even if they are, I’m not sure how I will feel with the guidelines that could be set. Depending on the circumstances, we might be homeschooling. This terrifies me a bit, because distance learning has had its rough days…but we will do what we feel is best for our family.

My kids are much more likely to be motivated to complete a task if there is some sort of way to make them accountable for their actions. What I like about this printable summer reading log, is it offers sections for both traditional books, as well as audio books! I never realized there were so many positives for kids listening to audio books. I definitely want to incorporate more of those.
This reading log has a fill-in section for date, title, and author of the book. There are also cute emojis to tell if you liked the book or not. How fun!!

Read, read, read! Reading is a great way for children to develop their minds and pursue creative interests. I highly recommend summer reading programs at your local libraries. Fun incentives to get kids to read and read all summer long!
