I received complimentary Kudo Banz to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own.

Positive Parenting. What exactly IS it? Simply stated, it is parental guidance offered in a positive way rather than obey orders based on fear of punishment, in order to help children develop self-discipline. Positive Parenting is a more gentle parenting based on communication and mutual respect. Enter Kudo Banz, an innovative parenting tool that utilizes positive reinforcement to motivate children in a fun way!

What are Kudo Banz?

Kudo Banz are a parents dream. They’re seriously a game changer. I’m sure you’ve heard of (and possibly even used) sticker charts as a rewards system with your child. While the idea of a sticker chart is great, there’s just one problem…it’s not always with you! Kudo Banz eliminate that problem — they’re always there!

Positive Parenting

How Kudo Banz Works

Positive Parenting is one of the most effective means for exhibiting good behavior in children. There are four key components with Kudo Banz:

  1. Structure: With structure comes a plan. Kids thrive on routines and understanding expectations. Involving them in this process keeps them focused and motivated. Kudo Banz storybook, “Adventures of Drago and George,” explain how their Kudo Banz work. Using the goals section in the back of the book, you and your child develop your plan. Once your plan is developed, together you decide on rewards with the reward wheel.
  2. Awareness: If your child is mindful of your plan, they will be more aware of their behavior. This will help them be successful. This is where Kudo Banz is genius. There is ALWAYS a physical reminder on your child’s wrist to continuously be aware of your plan. The 1, 2, 3 on the band allow your child to know how close they are to achieving their goal and receiving a reward.
  3. Immediate Recognition: We learned this in psychology with Pavlov’s dogs and classical conditioning. The most effective way to reinforce good behavior, is to recognize it immediately so kids can make the connection. This is what sets Kudo Banz apart from your ordinary sticker chart. Kids can receive both Kudo charms for their band and spin their reward wheel (with the Kudo app), no matter where they are. This helps kids understand the cause and effect of good behavior!
  4. All in a Positive Manner: Positive reinforcement builds kids’ confidence, leading to more willingness to demonstrate that behavior. Remember, the goal of Kudo Banz is always positive. Kudo charms cannot, under any circumstances be taken away as a punishment. Doing this will make them lose your trust. The more we give positive attention to good behavior to our children, they more likely that behavior will be repeated.

Kudo Banz Starter Kit

I have personally always used positive parenting with my two children. I am not a fan of yelling and using fear methods as a form of punishment. I realize different methods of parenting work for different people, and I respect that. That being said, this gentle form of parenting is what works best for our family. I really appreciate the idea behind Kudo Banz — making it fun and rewarding for both parent and child!

Kudo Banz are designed for children ages 3-10. You can purchase Kudo Banz here and follow them on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Pinterest.
