I was recently invited to participate in a virtual press junket for the upcoming PAW Patrol movie. The interview included voice cast members Marsai Martin (Liberty) and Iain Armitage (Chase). It was a wonderful experience, and so fun speaking with such young and exuberant actors. Here are a few fun facts from the cast!

When asked how Marsai and Iain are similar to their characters, they had a lot to say. Marsai feels she is confident like Liberty and continuously goes after what’s right. Iain says he strives to be like Chase, and he’s very proud to play his character. Chase has very admirable qualities like being a loyal friend and a great teammate that Iain can relate to.
Wondering what some of the challenges are with voicing an animated character? Marsai says that the pitch is very important. You need to consistently remain in that character’s tone of voice. Throughout filming, there was a pause due to the pandemic. She found it challenging to make sure her pitch matched up once filming resumed.
There are many great takeaways and lessons in PAW Patrol: The Movie. Iain hopes viewers will learn the importance of teamwork. He also hopes that everyone has a friend like Chase has.
When asked which other pup they’d like to play, Marsai says either Skye because she flies, or Marshall. Iain says Rocky because he likes to eat, Zuma because he likes to swim…but then decides on Liberty, because she’s really cool. I’d have to agree with Iain — you will fall in love with Liberty!
