Wondering what kids think of Disney Pixar’s Onward? I took my two children, ages 6 and 10 years old opening weekend. After the movie, I asked them a few questions to hear their thoughts. They’re sharing them with you in this Onward Kids Movie Review!

Disney Pixar Onward Kids Movie Review

As a mom of two boys, I couldn’t wait to venture to the theatre to see Pixar’s latest with my children. Onward is a story about brothers, and I was hoping they would both enjoy the film. Onward is rated PG and has a running time of 1 hour 43 minutes. This is a great time for kids. While my 10 year old can handle longer films, it’s often difficult for my 6 year old to keep focused for anything much longer.

After the movie, we piled into our car and I asked them questions about what they thought about Onward. My oldest son was very eager to share his thoughts, and I thought Avery did great for his age!

Do kids like onward?

What do kids think of Pixar’s Onward?

Lincoln is 10 years old. He’s a sensitive kid with a huge heart. He’s also very deep and always looking for takeaways in movies. Here’s how our Q&A went.

Q: Who was your favorite character?

A: Ian

Q: What was your favorite part of the movie?

A: I really liked the theme of bravery and the bond between the two brothers.

Q: What were some key messages in the film?

A: That you can really do anything you want to if you just try…hard.

Q: Did you like the movie?

A: YES!!!

Q: Did you think Onward was scary?

A: No.

Lincoln also said it was important to always believe in yourself. He talked about how Ian was very scared in the beginning of the movie, and how he overcame his challenges.

Now it was Avery’s turn. Avery is 6 years old and perhaps the silliest kid I have ever met. He loves to make you laugh. He’s also the sweetest snuggle bug. He doesn’t like loud noises and scary things, so he often will sit on my lap at the movie theatre for comfort. Here’s our Q&A.

Q: Who was your favorite character in Onward?

A: Colt Bronco because he looks like a doggy!

LOL! For the record, Colt Bronco is half human/half horse. But Avery was determined he was half dog.

Q: What was your favorite part in Onward?

A: I really liked the magic and it was really funny when Barley shrunk!

Q: Did you like the movie?

A: YES!

Q: Did you think Onward was scary?

A: No!

Avery also said he would be able to answer more questions once he sees it again.

So there you have it…Onward is a hit with kids! You can view my personal thoughts on Pixar’s latest in my Onward Parent Movie Review.
