Netflix’s Team Zenko Go is one of the most diverse children’s television series I’ve seen in a long time. I recently was invited to a Team Zenko Go interview with voice actors, Hartley Bernier (Ari) and Nakai Takawira (Niah), along with Producer, Jack Thomas.
Netflix’s TEAM ZENKO GO Interview with Cast + Producer
I’m going to be honest here…the first thing that caught my eye when I saw the poster for Team Zenko Go, was a character was using a wheelchair. For those of you who do not know, I have used a wheelchair for my entire life. However, when I was a child, that type of representation was hardly ever seen on the screen. And if it was, it wasn’t usually in a positive way. For young children today to have such a positive character that is seen as equal to everyone else, is huge. I asked Producer, Jack Thomas, about the development of these characters.
On a lighter note, I discussed why Nakai and Hartley wanted to be part of this Netflix series. They both had meaningful answers.
Finally, we chatted about Team Zenko Go’s adorable sidekick, Ponzu the flying squirrel. Jack talked about creating this fun character, while Hartley and Nakai told me what type of animal they’d choose to be their own sidekick. Their answers were super creative!

Team Zenko Go Synopsis:
Niah, Ari, Ellie and Jax are members of Team Zenko Go, a secret squad of stealthy do-gooders who harness the art of distraction to perform anonymous acts of kindness for the unknowing residents of Harmony Harbor. These four kids have been taught by their mentor, Auntie Yuki, a special set of skills that allow them to do good deeds (or Zenkos) for others, making their town the happiest in the world. Like Auntie Yuki says “when we help people without them knowing, they start to think that the world is just a nicer place.”
Team Zenko Go is available for streaming exclusively on Netflix. This is one series your younger children will absolutely adore. It has some superhero type vibes, but there’s also great messages tucked within each episode.
