Boy am I in need of an update! On November 23, 2009 (as planned!), our beautiful son Lincoln James was born. There is not much of a birth story because it was a planned c-section. It was certainly the happiest days of my life. It is true what they say. The love you have for your child is unimaginable. It is absolutely impossible to describe or to understand until that little baby is placed into your arms. In my case, it was a big baby! Lincoln was 8 lbs 13 oz and 21 inches long! Such a big boy considering I’m only 5 feet and 100 lbs myself!

Also, some wonderful news…he does NOT have Osteogenesis Imperfecta! My baby boy is 100% perfectly healthy. I am so very grateful!

He is now 6 weeks old and has started to smile. He is trying to babble, I can just tell! Sometimes a little noise will come out, but right now it’s mostly just expressions, which I love! His smiles melt my heart. Here are a few pictures to show off my adorable baby boy!

Here we are in the hospital:

Here he is with Daddy:
Here is our little family ๐Ÿ™‚
Many more updates to come soon…I really want to keep this blog updated, starting now ๐Ÿ™‚

I am so happy for you and your little one! Congratulations!!!!

I have to ask, how are you 100% positive that he does not have OI? We do not suspect that our little one has OI either, but our doctors are not able to confirm / deny at this point… and I just was curious if you did genetic testing or just through physical characteristics were able to determine?

Liz – we had a dna test done at birth. They draw his blood and have to send it out to test it. It takes a few weeks to get the results back. They called us a few weeks ago and told us that he does not have OI, nor does he carry the gene ๐Ÿ™‚

We were not able to tell prior to his birth unless we opted for an amnio, which I declined. I never expected him to have OI because he is one strong little boy, and I checked those beautiful little eyes of his time and time again looking for the blue sclera. The pediatrician didn't think he had it either, but I still wanted the test done for my own sanity. Best of luck to you!

I am so glad your little one doesn't have OI… we were all for doing the DNA testing when he was born (not the amnio – we weren't for that either)… but unfortunately they weren't able to detect OI with my DNA!!!! – so there was nothing to compare him to…
