Ready for Disney’s upcoming holiday film, The Nutcracker and the Four Realms? Get the inside scoop in this exclusive interview with Mackenzie Foy, who plays “Clara.” Special thanks to The Moms Network for hosting this Mamarazzi event.
I’m going to let you in on a little secret. I LOVE Christmas movies. As much as I dislike the wintertime and dealing with snow, I LOVE the magic of Christmas! It really is the most wonderful time of the year! And now that I am a mom…it is even MORE magical! So when I heard Disney was putting their own spin on the classic, The Nutcracker, I was very intrigued!
Last week I received an invitation in my inbox inviting me to NYC for the day to interview Mackenzie Foy, who plays “Clara” in Disney’s The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. It would be a round table type of discussion along with other bloggers. I seriously couldn’t RSVP fast enough. New York City is a quick train ride for me, and this was an opportunity I couldn’t let pass by.
Mackenzie Foy Interview | “Clara” The Nutcracker and the Four Realms #DisneysNutcracker
If you’re unfamiliar with Mackenzie Foy, perhaps you’d remember her as “Renesmee Cullen” in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2. She is almost 18 years old, and rocking her Senior year of high school with straight A’s…something she’s VERY proud of (and should be!).
Disney’s Nutcracker is “The Ultimate Christmas Movie!”
Mackenzie opened the interview sharing her excitement for what she is calling “the ULTIMATE Christmas movie!” She excitedly told us about her love for all things Disney. Seriously. A girl after my own heart. She was super sweet, well-poised, and really down to earth. It’s amazing to me to look at Mackenzie and see everything she has accomplished at such a young age…I am technically old enough to be her mom! I really think she exemplifies a wonderful role model for our younger generations.
Mackenzie had to use a British accent for her role as “Clara” in The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. She already knew how to change her voice though, so this came easily to her. When asked if she took dancing lessons for her part, she eagerly told us she is trained in martial arts, and credits this skill tremendously. And while she didn’t have any dancing scenes, she did do a few stunts!
Speaking of dancing scenes…while Mackenzie could not let any spoilers for the film slip, she did tell us her favorite costume was her “purple bustle dress.” When asked what her favorite scene in the movie was, again, not giving anything away, she told us there’s a specific scene with Misty Copeland that is “absolutely magical.” She said we would all know exactly what scene she was referring to when we see the film. “Pure magic.”
In the future, Mackenzie would love to utilize her martial arts ability and star in an action film! She describes her sense of style as “whatever makes her happy.” She’s not concerned with keeping up with the latest trends, as long as she’s happy, she’s in style. Smart girl!!
What’s keeping Mackenzie busy these days? Maintaining that perfect GPA! She is really focused on her grades and having fun with her friends, thoroughly enjoying her Senior year…as she should be!
I was able to ask one question. I chose to keep it fun and lighthearted.
“You said you are a huge Disney fan. What is your favorite Disney movie?”
Mackenzie seriously lit up with my question. You could see the little girl inside of her beaming with excitement over her love of Disney films. Without hesitation, she told me “Cinderella! Live-action and animated. They both make me cry every single time. All Disney movies make me cry!”
