My sweet boy, Lincoln,
Twelve years old. HOW is that even possible? This past year has gone by in the blink of an eye…and I really cannot get over how much you’ve GROWN! This has been another tremendous year of growth for you — just don’t be in a rush to grow up too quickly! Being a kid is so much fun! Next year you’ll be 13 years old, and I cannot even fathom the thought of you being a teenager!
It seems like only yesterday your Daddy placed you into my arms for the first time. From that moment on, my life was forever changed in the very best possible way. When you become a parent, your heart lives outside of your body. There is no greater love than the love you have for your child.
You are now in 6th grade…your very last year in elementary school! You finished 5th grade off with distance learning, and you really did so well. Thankfully this year you were able to go back to in person learning. You are SO happy to be back in school with your friends. You’re looking forward to attending Junior High next year.
You have also been able to return to sports — which has made you SO happy! You had two great seasons in soccer…you’re one heck of an amazing goalie! Over the summer you participated in tennis camp, which you enjoyed very much. You recently started basketball season…and you tower over every other player! You’re still enjoying golf and you were even able to try out a course when we visited Myrtle Beach!
We were able to travel twice this year to Disney World. Due to the pandemic, we decided to drive rather than fly each time. You enjoyed the adventure of the road trip, seeing new places along the way, and making memories. I’m hopeful for us to vacation even more this year!
Aside from sports, you also enjoy video games as well as board and card games. You love family game nights! You watched The Office this past year and it’s definitely your favorite series. Science is your favorite subject and you are crazy smart in math. You love any type of game that requires strategy.
You are an old soul and like a lot of classic rock music. You’re very mature for your age and you still have the kindest heart I’ve ever known. You make me so proud every single day and I am so incredibly grateful that you are my son.
Happy 12th birthday, my sweet boy. Never stop being YOU. I love you to infinity and beyond and never stop.
