Guillermo del Toro’s PINOCCHIO is a riveting tale exploring the relationship between a father and son. Filled with grief, love, and darkness Guillermo del Toro delivers a whole new spin on the original classic…dare I say, even better?! The Netflix film also boasts extraordinary beautiful stop-motion animation.
While there are many different variations of the 1940 classic, Pinocchio, however, Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio is very unique. In a recent interview with actor Gregory Man (voice of Carlo and Pinocchio), he discusses this uniqueness.
Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio Interview with Gregory Mann
“I think what makes this version so unique is that it’s not just an animation that’s made to make money. It’s really a beautiful story. I think what Guillermo said is that he tried to make it as naturalistic as possible, and it’s so pure. Like when Pinocchio’s nose grows the leafs grow out and branches come out, instead of going in a straight line. And so I just think it’s so awesome that that’s the way he’s done. It’s also a little bit more creepy, but I think it makes the movie a lot more interesting and beautiful.” – Gregory Mann (voice of Pinocchio and Carlo)
