This post was sponsored by Nintendo as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central. I received complimentary products to facilitate my review.

It’s hard for me to believe that Lincoln only has about two months left until he finishes Kindergarten. Where has this year gone? I can only imagine his school years will continue to pass by much more quickly than I’d like. Lincoln is one of the oldest kids in his class. Giving him the extra year in preschool was  the best decision I could have made for him. He has a late November birthday, and with his speech delay, I thought it was in his best interest. Now as this year is almost over, I am really happy I decided to give him that extra year. He is confident, he’s a hard worker, and he loves school. Lincoln is thriving, and I couldn’t be more proud.

Lincoln has a fantastic teacher. This is her first year having her own classroom — which I think is great because she’s super motivated to work with these kids. Lincoln absolutely adores her. She has implemented many things in their classroom that Lincoln likes to utilize at home. I think one of his favorites is the ‘brain break.’ What is a brain break? Pretty much exactly what it sounds like! When you need to give your brain a rest, you go off to do something else!

At home Lincoln’s favorite ‘brain break’ activity is hands-down video games. Sure they require thinking and your brain is absolutely working — but they’re something he thoroughly enjoys. Right now, one of his favorite games is Yo-kai Watch, available on the Nintendo 3DS.

Yo-kai Watch originated in Japan, and is now available in the United States. It is made exclusively for the portable Nintendo 2DS, 3DS, and even the new 3DSXL gaming system. The object of the game is to find and befriend mischievous Yo-kai.  You then turn them into a team to battle other Yo-kai. So, what exactly is a “Yo-kai?” Have you ever forgotten your keys, or found yourself running late? Maybe a Yo-kai is to blame! Lincoln told me that the game reminds him of a treasure hunt. He especially enjoys battling the other Yo-kai!

We spent Easter weekend at my parents house in Rhode Island. It’s a long 2 1/2 hour car drive. Lincoln didn’t mind one bit. He enjoyed his ride finding some Yo-kai!

Lincoln is a beginning reader. I really appreciate that this video game tells a story. And even though he’s taking a “brain break,” its focus on exploration keeps those wheels turning.

Yo-kai Watch is available online, and wherever video games are sold (retail price $39.99). You can also stay updated with all things Yo-kai by following Nintendo on Facebook and Twitter.
