This past week has been a whirlwind of excitement for me. As an entertainment writer, I was invited to attend The Geekly Retreat, put on by the amazing ladies behind The Geekly Show. While we experienced many, many fortunate opportunities, one that I will ALWAYS remember is that I ATTENDED THE FROZEN 2 RED CARPET WORLD PREMIERE AND AFTER PARTY. (Yes. That deserved caps!). You guys… I walked my first EVER Red Carpet and it was a DREAM!! Join me as I take you “into the unknown,” on my Red Carpet adventure!
My Frozen 2 Red Carpet Attire
When I was invited to attend the Frozen 2 World Premiere, I immediately started thinking of my dress! I wanted to look elegant, and somehow coordinate “Frozen inspired” colors.
I remembered I had a gown hanging in my closet that I wore to a Gala two years ago that would be the perfect fit! It was a purplish blue shade, and definitely made me feel like I belonged in Arendelle.
I paired it with a sparkly clutch and Elsa inspired jewelry from Disney’s Couture Kingdom collection.
I was ready to take it all in!!
Walking the Frozen 2 Red Carpet
The Frozen 2 World Premiere was held at the Dolby Theater located on Hollywood Boulevard. Yes. That is where the Oscars are held. Insert “HOW the heck is this my life” moment.
This was my first Red Carpet experience, and I really didn’t know what to expect. And although I was absolutely 100% nervous, I wasn’t going to let that stop me from living this dream. I’ve worked hard for this, and I was determined to enjoy every second. I brushed those pesky nerves aside, took a deep breath, and I felt such a surreal moment. Wow. I did it. I was finally here.
The Red Carpet was elegantly decorated in a fall theme. There were leaves trailing along the carpet, and many backdrops that made great photo ops.
There were two sides on the Red Carpet. One specifically for the celebrities, and then the side we were on.
Although the people in charge of working the event really try to rush you down, we made sure to take our time. Taking it all in. We worked hard to get here! We deserved this magic!
Inside the Dolby Theater at the Frozen 2 World Premiere
Once we finished walking the Red Carpet, we entered the Dolby Theater. At that point, we had to lock up our phones, as there is no photo or videos allowed inside the theater. However, I did snap one more quick photo.
We grabbed our bucket of popcorn and beverage and headed into the theater. I was in the second row. While normally I prefer to sit more towards the back of the theater, I was really excited to be so up close! Do you know WHY?! Well, right before the film begins, the talent behind the film is introduced and brought on stage! I can’t even put into words the feeling of being in attendance with the directors, producers, and actors that brought Frozen 2 to life.
Once we finished viewing the film, I hooked up with my After Party buddy, Amanda, and the fun started right away! While we were walking out of the theater, Sterling K. Brown was literally directly in front of us! I never really thought I’d be “star struck,” but MAN, he did it for me! Don’t worry though, we kept our cool!
Frozen 2 After Party
So let’s do a quick recap. We walked the Red Carpet, saw Frozen 2 inside the Dolby Theater with the stars, what else could be left? THE FROZEN 2 AFTER PARTY!!!!
This was seriously INSANE! But in the best possible way. You are literally partying with the celebrities and everyone who had a part in making this film.
I swear I had to pinch myself multiple times throughout the evening!
The party was located upstairs and was decked out in a…you guessed it…FROZEN theme! The lights were icy blue, and there were many nods to the movie. Several photo opps were available, and TONS of food…even McDonald’s Happy Meals!!
But to be perfectly honest with you, I wasn’t even hungry! I think I was just too excited to be there! Amanda and I decided to walk the room (multiple times), and just take it all in.
First up…
Why yes, that is THE Sterling K. Brown, and he is every bit as nice in person as his character in “This is Us.” In fact, he was kind enough to pause his dinner to snap a selfie with myself, Amanda from Guide4Moms, and Tessa from Mama’s Geeky! Our night was made!! Sterling voices Lieutenant Mattias in Frozen 2.
We were excited to run into Yvette Nicole Brown. Earlier in the day we screened Disney’s live-action Lady and the Tramp. Yvette plays “Aunt Sarah” in the film, and we had the opportunity to interview her. She was elated to see us again, and we snapped a photo. She was so real and genuine to talk to!
And finally, we met Jason Ritter! I LOVED meeting him, as he’s in everything I seem to be watching lately. Over the summer, my husband and I binged Parenthood, where he plays “Mark Cyr.” He has recently been on A Million Little Things. And he’s also on the Netflix series, Raising Dion.
I wanted to talk to him about Raising Dion because one of his co-stars, Sammi Haney, has Osteogenesis Imperfecta, the same condition as me! OI is extremely rare, so it was nice to make that connection.
Jason asked for my name and shook my hand, while introducing himself to me. I joked that I knew who he was…HAHA!
Look for him as “Ryder” in Frozen 2!
Overall my Frozen 2 Red Carpet experience and After Party was pure magic! It is a night I will always remember and I will forever be grateful for this opportunity!
About Frozen 2
Why was Elsa born with magical powers? The answer is calling her and threatening her kingdom. Together with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven, she’ll set out on a dangerous but remarkable journey. In Frozen, Elsa feared her powers were too much for the world. In Frozen 2, she must hope they are enough.
