Kristen Bell’s new preschool series, Do, Re and Mi, makes it debut on Amazon Prime Video and Amazon Kids+ on September 17, 2021. Touted as a music centered show, will this appeal to young children AND their parents? I received early access to Do, Re and Mi, and I’m so excited to share my (spoiler-free) thoughts in this review!
Do, Re, and Mi Review
When was the last time our children had a completely music centered television show? When my oldest son was a toddler, he was enamored by Little Einsteins. This was 11 years ago, and I’m realizing that there hasn’t been any new series where music is predominantly up front and center.
During the Little Einsteins era, there were others that were music focused — Fresh Beat Band, The Imagination Movers, and probably the most recent series, Beat Bugs. Do, Re and Mi is changing that and bringing music back to the television for young children — and parents, you’re going to love this one, too!
Do, Re and Mi is Fun for Kids AND Parents!
At the press junket, creators Kristen Bell and Jackie Tohn told us that not only did they want a show that would bring music back into homes, they also wanted the show to appeal to parents. How many children’s series are seriously cringe-worthy? I’ve personally lost count! Do, Re and Mi does NOT want you to grab your earplugs. In fact, you’ll be singing along to these highly catchy tunes right along with your kids! I watched this series by myself and I was smiling and singing away. My husband walked by at one point and just shook his head at me — ha!
What makes Do, Re and Mi different from other Preschool shows?
Not only are children learning about music in Do, Re and Mi, the series focuses on other redeeming qualities as well. Teamwork is shown in each episode, and they are all filled with many different teachable moments.
Do is afraid to fly…and he’s an owl! BUT, he never gives up. Do turns his hesitancy to determination, using music as a coping mechanism. Children will easily be able to relate to his character and not feel alone. Everyone has fears and that’s okay — but it’s also okay to face those fears!
Kids will love Do, Re and Mi for the catchy tunes and adorable characters. Parents will love Do, Re and Mi for the teachable moments, life lessons, and learning opportunities for their children — and the catchy tunes, because let’s be honest…they’re pretty dang good! Overall, it’s an absolute delight! Do, Re and Mi fly’s into Amazon Prime Video and Amazon Kids+ on September 17th!
