Are you a Disney enthusiast like myself and cannot wait to get back to the magic? While I’m certainly missing The Most Magical Place on Earth something fierce, I’m still waiting for things to (hopefully) settle down sooner rather than later with this crazy pandemic. I almost wish I could teleport myself to the “Disney bubble” without having to hop on a plane. However, if you are planning a visit to our happy place soon, here are the Disney quarantine rules you need to know before you go.
Disney Quarantine Rules You Need To Know Before You Go
If you are a Disney fan, you’ve been watching the reopening of Walt Disney World. Probably with an expectant eye toward some near-future vacation. You may have noticed there aren’t a lot of takers. Many people are simply not interested in traveling during the pandemic. Others are waiting until they can get the full Disney experience. One aspect of the pandemic that impacts Disney World’s ability to draw a larger audience is the quarantine rules. These rules attempt to keep the spread of Coronavirus contained. It doesn’t help that COVID-19 cases spiked shortly after Universal Orlando and other Florida tourist attractions reopened.

Florida may have been eager to jump-start the local economy by pushing for theme parks to open up again. However, other states are more anxious to move forward. Quarantine rules for these states make travel plans cumbersome. They even act as a deterrent for those who are already on the fence about traveling right now. Disney has a say in all of this as well. They expect guests to share the burden of responsibility for the spread of COVID-19 within the resort, and rightfully so.
Disney World Tacit Agreement About Quarantine
If quarantine rules in your state don’t keep you from traveling to Florida, you will have to acknowledge a few things whether or not those acknowledgments are verbally stated. First, Disney communicates to everybody through resort-wide signage that there is an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 when you enter. In addition to that, you also agree upon entering that you not only have no COVID-19 symptoms, but you have also not been in contact with anybody who does. At least, not without a 14 day quarantine. You also acknowledge that you are not under personal quarantine orders.

State Issued Quarantine Rules
About the time that Walt Disney World reopened, the tri-state area of NY, NJ, and CT issued a mandatory 14-day quarantine upon returning from Florida and other hotspots. Not only that, but first-time violators could be fined $2,000. Travelers do have the option of filling out a form for quarantine purposes or to take a COVID-19 test before leaving the airport. This is not the only instance of such quarantine rules. Chicago similarly has fines up to $7,000 based on the number of days in violation.

Of course, such quarantine orders are subject to change, and states affected can be a moving target. For example Rhode Island issues quarantine orders for travelers from states with a 5% or more positive test rate for the coronavirus. Maine and Massachusetts have a different spin, They insist on a travel form and 14-day quarantine unless you are from a state that is deemed a lower risk by the Department of Health. The fines for these states start at $500, but Maine has a $1000 base penalty that also comes with jail time.
