Bon Voyage! Headed for a magical adventure on the high seas? Don’t forget these Disney Cruise embarkation day essentials. This post is sponsored by American Tourister. All opinions are my own.
Our family recently returned from our third Disney Cruise. I think it’s pretty safe to say that we’re a cruising family! A Disney Cruise is really the ultimate family vacation. No matter what your age, there is something for everyone onboard! Being that we just returned from our third cruise (in one year), I’ve learned a few tips and tricks along the way. I think one of the most important Disney Cruise embarkation day tips is to make sure you pack the proper essentials. Ensuring you have all of the necessities your first day onboard, will give your cruise an extra magical start!
DISNEY CRUISE EMBARKATION DAY ESSENTIALS
Passports and Cruise Documents
This essential might seem like a no brainer, but it’s certainly one you won’t want to forget! At check-in, all guests must present a valid passport or other acceptable proof of citizenship. Without these documents, you will NOT be allowed to board the ship! Don’t let it sail away without you!! You will also want to remember your cruise documents you filled out during online check-in.
Disney Cruise Line Navigator App
Before setting sail, or even stepping foot on your cruise ship, downloading the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App is a MUST! This app enables you to not only view all of the activities onboard the ship, but also allows you to communicate with other people in your traveling party! You can use the app to message one another within the app, while you’re out at sea!
Medications
If you take any daily medications, you’ll want them with you on your first day. It is also very important that they’re in their original container. Your luggage might not get dropped off to your stateroom until the early evening. I always feel better knowing those prescriptions and pain relievers are with me. Also, don’t forget about Sea Bands or any seasickness medication you might need!
Stateroom Door Magnets
My kids LOVE to decorate our stateroom door with their personalized magnets. It’s fun to set it up right away…it also makes finding your room so much easier!!
Swimsuits
Guess what? Once you’re onboard Disney Cruise Line, you’re welcome to utilize its many amenities right away! You’ll want your swimsuit with you so you can enjoy some time in the pool, or even catch a ride on the Aqua Duck!
Sunscreen
While the shops onboard Disney Cruise Line do sell sunscreen, the stores will not be open until later in the evening. Make sure you protect your skin with sunscreen. You don’t want to start off your vacation with a sunburn!
Fish Extender and Gifts
If you’re participating in a Fish Extender group, you can attach yours to your stateroom door. A lot of members like to drop off their gifts right away, and you can do the same! For more information on Fish Extenders, see this post.
Small Rolling Luggage
Of course you will need the perfect day bag to carry your Disney Cruise embarkation day essentials! American Tourister recently sent me THE most adorable Chewbacca 21″ Spinner Suitcase. I LOVE that it is on wheels. It simply glides so incredibly easily, rather than having to lug around a heavy bag. Also? How PERFECT is this luggage for embarking on a Star Wars Day at Sea cruise?!
My youngest son, Avery promptly claimed this suitcase as his own. You see, he is normally not one to run up to his favorite characters he sees on TV. However, he absolutely ADORES Chewbacca. When we were at the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration in February, he openly gave Chewbacca a great big Wookiee hug! This surprised me honestly. I mean, Chewie is lovable and all, but he can look awfully intimidating to a 4-year old!
#RoarForChange Initiative
You all know how much I love when brands give back, which is why I’m excited to share the Star Wars: Force for Change #RoarForChange Challenge. From now until May 25th, every fan who posts their best Wookiee roar to social media with #RoarforChange, Lucasfilm will donate $1 to UNICEF (up to $1 million). The Star Wars: Force for Change hopes to inspire people to be “forces for change” in their everyday lives. How empowering! Will you join my Avery in taking the #RoarForChange Challenge?
Mirley Guerra Graf
