When I heard that Norman Bridwell’s classic Clifford the Big Red Dog was going to be on the big screen, I was so happy. Everyone knows who Clifford is, and it just seems like this film is way overdue. Last week I was invited to participate in a press junket with cast stars Darby Camp, who plays the iconic Emily Elizabeth, and Jack Whitehall, who plays Uncle Casey. We also heard from filmmakers, Jordan Kerner and Walt Becker. I cannot wait to soon tell you all about the movie, but today I’m happy to share highlights from the Clifford the Big Red Dog interview.
Darby Camp and Jack Whitehall discuss fun moments on the set!
Jack and Darby both agree they shared some not so ordinary moments with the exotic animals on set! There is one scene in particular where they are both surrounded by an assortment of animals, for example, a sloth, python, and even a monkey that was in The Night at the Museum (Darby said she was star stuck at that one!). Some of these creatures they’ve never seen before, or been that close to, and it was a different experience working with them. They were also amazed at how well the animal trainer was able to control all of these various animals in one area. They were not in cages or restraints, and they just performed so well.

Clifford the Big Red Dog Synopsis
When middle-schooler Emily Elizabeth (Darby Camp) meets a magical animal rescuer (John Cleese) who gifts her a little, red puppy, she never anticipated waking up to find a giant ten-foot hound in her small New York City apartment. While her single mom (Sienna Guillory) is away for business, Emily and her fun but impulsive uncle Casey (Jack Whitehall) set out on an adventure that will keep you on the edge-of-your-seat as our heroes take a bite out of the Big Apple. Based on the beloved Scholastic book character, Clifford will teach the world how to love big!
