Cars 3 Movie Review:
This past weekend we finally brought the boys to see Disney Pixar’s latest, Cars 3. I’ve been anticipating its release ever since seeing a sneak peek during the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration last February. I was anxiously awaiting its premiere because Lincoln was a HUGE Cars fan when he was younger. I loved the nostalgia I hoped it would bring to him. For my 3.5 year old son, Avery, I had a strong feeling this would be his very first Disney film to fall in love with.
There was one thing I was SUPER nervous about though — that crash scene. It was evident from all of the previews that Lightening McQueen would be involved in a car crash. Ever since our car accident two years ago, those type of scenes are very hard for me to personally watch. I go back there to that night. It’s not very fun. Lincoln was 5 years old and Avery was just one. While Avery obviously was too young to remember, Lincoln remembers every single detail. As excited as I was for him to see the film, I was very, very nervous that scene would trigger those memories.
So, what did I think? I turned my head during McQueen’s crash as soon as he started to roll-over. Too many real memories for me. But, my main concern was Lincoln — and he was absolutely fine! The crash scene was very brief, so I was able to continue enjoying the film with my family.
Cars 3 takes place during Lightening McQueen’s later racing years. He’s faced with new challenges, with rookies coming up and being not only faster, but more adept with today’s technology. If McQueen wants to continue racing, he needs to make some changes — he has to mix things up a bit!
Cruz Ramirez was the perfect new character the film needed. She tested Lightening McQueen and pushed him to see a different side of himself, and he did the same for her. Together, McQueen and Ramirez were quite the team. I enjoyed watching their relationship develop — and the ending? Couldn’t have been better!
As far as the graphics go, it’s Disney Pixar — there really isn’t anything better! You will be blown away with the technology used in this film.
What did my children think of Cars 3?
Lincoln (age 7.5) was on the edge of his seat the entire time! There was a lot of dialogue during the film, and I wasn’t sure if he would lose interest. BUT, he was seriously GLUED to the screen! Afterwards, I wanted to see if he was able to take away anything from Cars 3 — or, did he just like the action? I asked him, “What was the message of the movie?” Without missing a beat he said, “To always believe in yourself and never give up.” BOOM! He couldn’t have gave me a better answer.
Now for my 3.5 year old, Avery. He did get a little antsy during some parts of the film, but he’s 3!! Since seeing the movie, he has been literally OBSESSED with Lightening McQueen!
Cars 3 will be racing into our movie collection as soon as it’s released. It’s truly a wonderful, family-friendly film we all enjoyed!
SYNOPSIS:
Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, the legendary Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves. To get back in the game, he will need the help of an eager young race technician, Cruz Ramirez (voice of Cristela Alonzo), with her own plan to win, plus inspiration from the late Fabulous Hudson Hornet and a few unexpected turns. Proving that #95 isn’t through yet will test the heart of a champion on Piston Cup Racing’s biggest stage!

I can’t wait to see Cars 3! I really hope it is better than part 2. All though everything I have seen related to Cars 3, looks like it leaves part 2 in the dust. I’m so excited for this movie to come out.
