There is a lot of hype surrounding the food at Walt Disney World. The dining experience seems to scatter all across the board, from the chicken corn dog nuggets, to the Elk at Jiko (which I’ve heard is exquisite). Some foods are fun foods and some mean serious culinary business. Others miss the mark entirely. There seems to be no logic to the ever changing grab bag of menu items in the Disney World parks, but there are huge successes among them. Some are new, some are classics, but these are five of the best Disney World foods you have to try while you are there.
BEST DISNEY WORLD FOODS
While I love my share of traditional Dole Whips and Mickey Pretzels, these featured foods go outside the box! Something FUN to try during your next visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth.
Gourmet Popcorn at Epcot
Popcorn at Disney is easily one of the Best Disney World foods, just because it is such a staple. As popular as they are, Dole Whips, Turkey Legs, and Churros are niche compared to Popcorn in the Disney Parks. It’s even better when the popcorn cart serves gourmet specialty popcorn, and this is something you have to try!
At Epcot, there are two such popcorn locations. One is in Future World and serves three unique flavors: Sour Cream and Chive, Cheddar, and Buffalo. You can even mix them for a satisfying and complex sensory experience. In the Canada Pavilion, you must get the Maple Popcorn.
Pineapple Raspberry Dole Whip Swirl at Magic Kingdom
Speaking of the Dole Whip, there is a new twist to the classic treat that all Dole Whip lovers HAVE to try! This swirled soft serve includes the original Pineapple Dole Whip flavor twisted with raspberry. It’s a totally new way to experience an old favorite and it might even become your new go to snack when visiting Aloha Isle at the Magic Kingdom.
Strawberry Shortcake Ice Cream Sandwich at Animal Kingdom
In Dinoland USA you can find an amazing ice cream sandwich treat. The Strawberry Shortcake Ice Cream Sandwich at Animal Kingdom is so unique and so amazing that you have to try it while you are there. It’s an ice cream sandwich made with strawberry ice cream between two sugar cookies. The sandwich is then rolled in strawberry vanilla cake crumbles to be perfectly coated in cake deliciousness. It’s really like three desserts rolled into one!
Gyro at Animal Kingdom
While you are at Animal Kingdom and looking for something a little more savory, you won’t have to go far. Animal Kingdom has terrific food at counter service restaurants and kiosks all over the park. However, it’s worth it to take a special trip to Harambe Village in the Northwest corner of the park.
The Harambe Market is a quick service destination that serves a variety of food from Shaved Ice to Ribs. What you have to get here is the Beef and Lamb Gyro. The serve this traditional gyro with an African Slaw for an exciting flavor combination.
Fish and Chips at Epcot
Speaking of tradition, you can’t talk traditional foods without mentioning Epcot and the many staples they have there. Although many of them are surely among the best Disney World foods, none can compare to the Fish and Chips at Yorkshire Market in the United Kingdom Pavilion. These fish are battered and fried to perfection every time, and it’s a must do for foodies traveling the World Showcase.

Whoa, I bet Darcee (my fiance’) would love love love the Maple flavored popcorn found at Canada world in Epcot. To be honest she would love them all cause she loves popcorn. So normally when it comes to soft serve or any desserts, I am a chocoholic. However, that Raspberry Dole Whip looks amazeballs! I love pineapple too so that would be so good and refreshing on a warm day too! Couple that with a salty mickey pretzel and I would have the best fat day ever!
