When most people think of Disney World, they might think it’s just for kids. And while Disney World is a children’s paradise, the truth is more and more couples are flocking to the Mouse House each year to enjoy some romantic down time. Disney World has all sorts of fun activities for couples to enjoy together, you just need to do a little planning. In fact, just this past January, my husband and I visited Disney without our kids for 3 days! Look below at 10 of the best Disney World experiences for couples, and see how romantic it can be to visit Disney World when you are in love!
10 Best Disney World Experiences for Couples
1. Share some spaghetti at Tony’s Town Square
Everyone remembers the scene in Lady and the Tramp when the two canines share pasta together. Head to Tony’s Town Square and share a plate of pasta while taking in the old world Italian ambiance! Just don’t be surprised if you are inspired to re-enact the famous noodle sharing scene!
2. Take a photo in front of Cinderella Castle
Cinderella Castle is one of the most beautiful and photo ready spots in Disney World. Ask a Disney PhotoPass Photographer to take a photo of you and your partner in front of the castle. And if you are feeling brave, be sure to steal a kiss! If you have any wishes to make, this is the place to do it!
3. Go on a Carriage Ride
Both Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort offer horse-drawn carriage rides. In fact, for my best friend’s wedding, I gifted her and her husband their own romantic ride! I love horse carriage rides…I even had one on my wedding day!
4. Enjoy some sips, snacks, and fireworks
Before the nightly fireworks show begins, grab a beverage of your choice and find a cozy spot to cuddle up. Then, let the magic begin! Disney World is known for one of the greatest fireworks show in the world, so this is the perfect time to relax and be entertained by the lights and music that are about to light up the sky.
Tip: Looking for a more intimate setting? Book a dining reservation at California Grill, located at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. If you time your reservation just right, you can view the “Happily Ever After” fireworks show at Magic Kingdom right from your table! Another option is to set sail on a private fireworks cruise — how romantic!
5. Buy a special piece of jewelry or keepsake to commemorate the day.
Head into one of the dozens of themed gift shops where you can find all sorts of jewelry, music boxes, keepsake boxes, journals, and all sorts of other gifts to remember the day. You can pick an item out for each other, so you always have it to remember this trip and how you felt. I have a Disney-themed Pandora bracelet. Each time I visit Disney World, I like to purchase a new charm to commemorate that trip!
6. Grab a souvenir postcard
Would you love to get a note from your sweetheart? Call me a hopeless romantic, but there is something about a handwritten letter than makes me swoon. Grab postcards at one of the souvenir shops, find a quiet place, and write notes to each other. Be sure to drop the postcards in the mail before you head home. In a few days, you will get to relive the magic of Disney again when your mail arrives.
7. Have a caricature, silhouette, or fun photo taken of you
Disney gives you many chances to capture the moment via caricature, silhouette, and photography artists. Enjoy one of these sessions together and when you are done you will have a fun piece of art to take home and enjoy.
8. Enjoy a night out at Disney Springs
Disney Springs is the perfect spot for nightlife! Explore an assortment of shops, restaurants, and entertainment. From bowling to catching a movie, going on a shopping spree or indulging your sweet tooth, the possibilities are endless at Disney Springs!
9. Attend a Special Event or Tour
Disney is always offering special events and tours! If you’re visiting during one of the holiday’s…check out Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party or Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party! Looking for a less crowded evening at the Parks? Attend an After Hours event at Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or Animal Kingdom! Don’t forget about tours — get an inside peek at what makes Disney so magical!
10. Be a kid!
Who says kids get to have all of the fun? Earlier this year when my husband and I were in Disney we were on OUR time. Which meant we rode our favorite rides…and YES, Dumbo was absolutely included! We ate our favorite treats. Endless Dole Whips? YES PLEASE!! Hold hands, skip down Main Street U.S.A. and just be carefree!

I went to Disneyland California with my sister, both aged around 25. We had a BLAST. I loved to just look at the houses and statues, eat everything we wanted and of course the rides. I loved the rides too! I think Disney World must be equally awesome for adults as it is for children. Although I wonder how your kids took it that they couldn’t come to Disney World!
