Disability Pride Month is celebrated in July, and I cannot think of a better time for the new series on Apple TV+, Best Foot Forward, to premiere. Best Foot Forward is based on the book, “Just Don’t Fall,” by Josh Sundquist, a Paralympic athlete. The series focuses on Josh’s personal story, and is played by actor Logan Marmimo.
Best Foot Forward raises the bar for its level of inclusion. It was imperative for Josh’s character to actually have a prosthetic leg. Marmino is able to truly relate to Sundquist because he’s not just “playing the part.”
As someone who uses a wheelchair, I am thrilled to see this inclusion, and give all the applause to the team behind Best Foot Forward. This is certainly a huge step in the right direction, and I can only hope more studios utilize disabled actors.
I recently had the opportunity to interview Josh Sundquist, along with Logan Marmino, and Producer Matt Fleckenstein. We talked about the evolution of Best Foot Forward, the importance of inclusion, and much more. You can view my exclusive Best Foot Forward interview below.
