Our family loves to travel. Whether we’re headed to our latest Disney World vacation, or simply going on a road trip, we are always on-the-go. With the holidays in full swing, our traveling is even busier than usual. My family lives 2 1/2 hours away, so we try to visit as often as we can. I also still have physical therapy 3 times per week, as well as doctor appointments. I try to make this appointments when Lincoln’s in school, however, I will sometimes bring Avery along with me to my to appointment if I know it won’t be too long.
Avery just turned 3 years old, and he naturally wants to do everything his big brother does. I recently decided to grab a cute backpack for him when we’re out and about — just like his big bro!
TODDLER BACKPACK ESSENTIALS
I didn’t want to fill his backpack up too much, or it would be too heavy and he wouldn’t be able to carry it himself — something he would insist on. Because of this, I decided to just stick with a few essentials.

Coloring Book & Crayons — Avery LOVES to color. I seriously have never met a child who enjoys coloring as much as him. Coloring is something he is always willing to do. Whether we’re in the car, at an appointment, or even out for dinner (some restaurants don’t have crayons!), it’s a guaranteed way to keep him happy. I love those Play Packs that come with a small coloring book, crayons, and stickers. They’re the perfect size for guaranteed fun!
Water Bottle — We all know it’s important to stay hydrated. Kids are no different! Avery always has a water bottle packed and ready to go!
Snack — It doesn’t matter what it is, but I’d highly recommend having a small snack inside your child’s bag. There is nothing worse than a HANGRY toddler!!
Toys — Something small and portable. Obviously nothing too heavy or with a lot of pieces. Also, try to mix it up a bit. Swap toys out for more variety, and to keep things new!
