The Polar Express Train Ride

Last week when I shared our Christmas traditions with you, I mentioned taking Lincoln on a train ride.  Normally called, “The Polar Express.”

This past weekend, for the first time, we started this annual tradition.

We started the evening watching the movie at home.  When it was time to go, we asked Lincoln if he was ready to ride a “choo-choo.”  Of course he said, “YES!!”  I mean, what 3 year old doesn’t want to ride a choo-choo?!

We piled up in two separate cars.  There were 6 of us adults going along on this train ride, for this one little boy ๐Ÿ™‚

When we arrived at the train station, Lincoln was a bit in awe…

While we waited for our train to arrive, Lincoln started, mesmerized by the interactive train they had in the station.

Before we knew it, it was time to board the train.  We handed Lincoln his very own ticket.

Seriously, I cannot tell you how excited he was about that ticket.  He didn’t let it go the entire train ride.  Well, except when he was literally trying to lose his ticket, trying to push it out the window.  Sort of like they do in the movie.  Silly boy seemed like he was trying to reenact the movie!

When the conductor came to punch the tickets, Lincoln eagerly handed him over his ticket.  I think he was a bit disappointed that his ticket wasn’t punched to say, “Believe.”

My Mom, Lincoln’s Grammy, was one of the people with us.  I’m not sure who was more excited, him or her ๐Ÿ™‚

Mrs. Claus joined us on our ride.  Notice he’s still holding his ticket…

When Santa arrived, he surprisingly got a little shy!  He even laid down on Santa’s lap!

The conductor came back over to us, and placed his hat on Lincoln’s head.  He seriously made a little boys dream come true!

And then, he placed it on my head.  Lincoln thought that was pretty neat, too!

The train ride was one hour and fifteen minutes, and my sweet Lincoln enjoyed each and every second of it.

We will absolutely continue this annual tradition with him.  Next year, we’ll visit a different train station.  There are so many of them around!  I’d like to do one where we wear our pajamas and have hot chocolate ๐Ÿ™‚
