Skylanders Trap Team Review #HolidayGiftGuide

It’s been a long time since I really played a video game.  I was a die hard Nintendo fan back in the day.  I was recently sent the new Skylanders Trap Team, and boy how things have changed!  The technology behind this game is incredible, and the graphics are beyond astounding!  Completely different than my old Mario days!
I wasn’t sure if Lincoln would be able to play this, or if it would be too old for him.  What I didn’t expect to discover, was he was actually way better at this game than myself!  He was teaching me how to play!  He definitely prefers to play with Daddy – because Daddy can keep up with him!

Here’s some background info on Skylanders Trap Team:

“Kaos has blown up the walls of the feared Cloudcracker Prison freeing the most notorious villains in Skylands. It’s up to you and the Skylanders to find and capture them. Using Traptanium, a magic material that can harness the power of the Elements, you have the amazing ability to trap the villains and return them to Skylands to fight for you! Begin the ultimate adventure as you explore Skylands in search of the escaped villains!”

So, basically you’re trying to “trap” the villains, and turn them into “good guys.”  Can I just tell you how much Lincoln LOVES this concept?! I really do too.
Here’s what’s included in the starter kit:
  • The video game
  • The Traptanium Portal™
  • Two Skylanders Crystal Guardian Figurines
  • Two Crystal Traps
  • Two character sticker sheets with secret codes to unlock Skylanders characters in the Skylanders mobile and tablet games.
  • Two collectible trading cards.
  • One collector’s poster
Skylanders Trap Team is available on the Wii, Nintendo 3DS, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Playstation 4, Playstation 3, as well as Tablets!  Something else that is really cool, is if you have other Skylander games, such as Swap Force, their figures will work with Trap Team!!
Want to know my favorite thing about this game?  It’s expanding Lincoln’s vocabulary.  He has studied the poster that is included with the game, and he can tell you the name of every single character.  He still receives speech therapy in school, so I think this is just great!
I’m including Skylanders Trap Team in my 2014 Holiday Gift Guide.  It is definitely “Lincoln approved.” He now wants all things Skylanders!!
Disclosure:  I received a Skylanders Trap Team starter kit to facilitate this review.  All opinions are mine.

xoxo
