Spring into a Healthy Lifestyle

It just occurred to me that spring is literally DAYS away. I don’t know about you, but that makes me SO incredibly excited! Although we have had a record-breaking mild winter in New England, I am looking forward to some warm sunshine. I love all that comes with spring. The beautiful blooming flowers. The green grass. That “spring” smell that is in the air. Playing outside with my kids. Making so many memories. Spring is also the perfect time to make your health a top priority. Here are a few healthy lifestyle tips we can all utilize!

 

HEALTHY LIFESTYLE TIPS

 

Be Active

While this might seem like a no-brainer, exercise and staying fit is such an important factor when living a healthy life. Right now, my exercise consists of physical therapy, and it is crucial to my recovery process. Two times per week, I am in the pool doing aquatic therapy. If for some reason I have to miss a session, I can feel it. My body lets me know how much I need that physical activity. While aquatic therapy might not be your choice of physical fitness, it’s important to find something that works for your lifestyle…and stick with it.
 

Get Enough Sleep

If you’re a parent, then you are all too familiar with how little sleep we are surprisingly able to function on. I am one of those people who desperately need those 8 (even 10!) hours of sleep per night. Of course we all know I don’t always get those much needed hours. Sometimes I’ll take an afternoon nap with Avery if we’ve had a rough time in the sleep department the night before. Sleep is so important!
 

Eat Healthy

It is all too convenient to grab fast food, or pop some premade dinner into the oven for dinner. I find that when we meal plan for the week, we are much more likely to eat healthier.
 

Drink Water

While I do drink water, I need to get in the habit to drink more! One of my favorite ways to drink water is with a freshly squeezed lemon wedge. In fact, whenever we go out to eat, this is what I will order to drink. If lemon isn’t your favorite, you can add other fruits. I’ve tried raspberries, and those are pretty delish!
 

Take Your Vitamins

Now I sound like my mom…but my mom is a smart woman. My absolute favorite vitamins are Nature Made. They are actually the #1 best-selling brand for vitamins.  I will usually grab them on one of my trips to Walmart. They have such a great selection, and it’s super convenient.
 
I recently stocked up on some Calcium (we all need stronger bones!), and Vitamin C. Whenever any sort of sickness is in the air, I will take Vitamin C for a few days. I also despise swallowing large pills, so I really love that Nature Made offers gummy and chewable vitamins!
