Disney World Updates That Will Change Your Vacation

Walt Disney World reopened in July after four months of closure. During that time Disney worked with local government and health authorities to prepare the resort. They adopted new procedures and policies that have changed and developed as needs arose. If you plan on a visit to Walt Disney World in the near future, these Disney World updates may have a huge impact on your trip.

Disney World Updates

Reservations

Dining at table service restaurants requires reservations. Reservations were temporarily suspended upon the launch of the newly reopened parks, but a 60-day reservation window for dining is among the new Disney World updates. Ticket holders must also book theme park reservations through Park Pass in addition to a valid entry. This ensures Disney stays within its occupancy limit which the company significantly reduced for the pandemic. However, so far Disney has had trouble booking that many guests in a single day.

Disney Dining Updates

Health Acknowledgement and Security

Part of your visit to Walt Disney World involves a health acknowledgment. That means that you assume the natural risk of contact with COVID-19. You also agree that you have no COVID-19 symptoms and that you have not been in contact with anyone who has without completing a 14- day quarantine. You also agree you are not under self-quarantine orders. In addition, Security checkpoints are asking cooperation to make bag checks more contact-less. They ask that you bring as few bags and personal items as possible and that you try to use clear bags if you can.

Disney World Health and Safety Regulations

Attractions and Entertainment

Attraction openings are all subject to change. FastPass is suspended and standby queues are marked for social distancing. Parades and shows are also suspended along with character meet and greets. This also affects character dining. While most self-service buffets remain closed, some have been converted to family-style service or relaxation stations for guests who want a place to remove masks. Disney also closed all playgrounds. The impact of these closures results in less crowd dispersion but it avoids high contact, problematic situations.

Updated My Disney Experience App

My Disney Experience app has updates that make using the app more easy and more fun. The new directions feature helps you navigate the best course from one place in Walt Disney World to another. You can use it to map a route through one of the parks or get directions from one corner of Walt Disney World Resort to another.

Annual Passes

Annual Passholders suffer a lot of frustration regarding reservations as Disney makes it difficult for them to book days. Since Disney is operating at limited capacity and must justify the cost of remaining open, they are prioritizing guests who stay at their resorts. With that in mind, one of the recent Disney World updates involves them. Passholders can get three days guaranteed if they book a resort and reserve one date for park entry with valid admission. The remaining days become available to the passholder on a rollover basis.

I hope these Disney World updates are helpful for your next visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth!
