Just getting started? You’ll want to read Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, and Day 4 first! Day 5 of the 2017 Disney Social Media Moms Celebration was our day of RELAXATION!! After the hustle and bustle of the previous four days, we really were so excited to spend our day on Disney’s private island in the Bahamas, Castaway Cay (pronounced “Key”). The Disney Wonder docked bright and early. We stepped out onto our balcony to get our first view of the island. Pure paradise!
The turquoise water was so beautiful. We grabbed whatever we needed for the day (which wasn’t much because Disney spoils you), and disembarked the ship.
The ship itself is just so massive. It’s incredible to actually see it when you get off at the port. It is truly an exquisite masterpiece.
I did my research ahead of time and knew there were certain items we wouldn’t be needing on the island. A stroller for Avery was one of them. On Castaway Cay you are offered complimentary strollers, on a first-come first-serve basis — but there were seriously so many that I wouldn’t worry about them running out. The strollers are also the ones with the three huge tires — perfect for the beach sand.
Beach towels were handed to us as soon as we got onto the island, which was so convenient. Also, when you leave for the day, there’s a towel drop-off. Disney does it right!
You all know I use a wheelchair — well, there were also complimentary wheelchairs specifically designed for the beach. We grabbed one of those because the wheels on my chair sink like quicksand on the beach. These tires were HUGE!! We did still opt to still take my own personal wheelchair along with us, rather than leaving it there. I wasn’t really comfortable leaving it aside.
Once we had everything we needed, we found the perfect spot on the beach. We spent the day at the Family Beach. Castaway Cay also offers an “adult only” beach, Serenity Bay, however, I wanted to spend the day with my boys.
The ocean was a bit chilly, but that didn’t stop Lincoln from dragging his Daddy into the water!
My parents and I hung out and played in the sand with Avery. He had so much fun building sand castles!!
The weather could not have been more perfect. It was so nice to just sit and relax with my little family.
We did manage to snap a quick photo before embarking the ship. We all fell in love with Castaway Cay!!
That evening our dinner was at Animator’s Palette — definitely a favorite.
Animator’s Palette was my favorite restaurant for entertainment. The drawings come to life on the walls. It’s really a fun experience!
Afterwards we went to our stateroom. Our beds were turned down, a cute towel animal was made up for the kids, and of course, there was chocolate. We were sad it was our last night, but man — what an incredible vacation. Yes. I guess it was “technically” a working vacation for me, but the experiences and opportunities given to us were something we will always remember, and always be thankful for.
Disney Social Media Moms Celebration. What was it like, you ask? It was magic. 100% pure magic.
I was invited to the 2017 Disney Social Media Moms Celebration. I paid a nominal conference fee to attend and received discounted & complimentary items from Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line, and their sponsors. I was not asked to write about my experience. All opinions are my own.
