Can you believe summer is winding down? It really feels like the warm weather just graced us with its presence, and here we are already — getting ready for fall. Don’t get me wrong, I’m welcoming fall with open arms. Fall brings us great things — Lincoln’s baby brother due in November! Not to mention cooler weather for this pregnant mama!
We had a fantastic summer. Knowing this would be our last summer as a little family of three, we wanted to make the most of it — and make as many precious memories as possible.
We went on four road trips this summer! FOUR!!! And thanks to our spacious Kia, our long drives in the car were comfortable and pleasant, for all traveling — including our 3 year old son.
When we go on road trips, we have a lot of stuff to pack…quite possibly more than the average family, because of my wheelchair. That alone takes up a bit of space. Besides that, we usually have two large duffle bags — one for Jared and the other I share with Lincoln. We have our dog in the car for 2.5 hours of the trip, because we drop her off at my parents house. Lincoln’s backpack. Snacks, a case or two of water, toys, and extra pillows — because this pregnant mama uses 4 at bedtime.
So yeah. That’s a lot of stuff.
Thankfully with our Kia packing is easy peasy, and we never feel like we’re short on space!
Lincoln is such a trooper and just hangs out in his car seat, taking in all the views — and giving directions from the back seat.

Our longest trip this summer was a 6 hour drive to Maine for a wedding. Most people would cringe at the thought of traveling in a car for that length of time with a toddler. But for us? It’s honestly a piece of cake! Maybe it helps that we’ve been traveling with Lincoln pretty regularly since he was three months old. I hope his little brother enjoys traveling as much as he does!!
You know your kid had a great time on vacation when he looks like this on the drive home 😉
