I think one of the hardest things when you move out of your parents house and get married, is becoming your very own domesticated goddess. Or in my case, undomesticated. Folks, I’ve set chicken nuggets on fire in the microwave. I’m not the next gourmet chef, to say the least.
As much as I lack greatness in my cooking abilities, it doesn’t stop me from trying! Lately I’ve been trying to whip up some new yummy and healthy foods for our family.
The other day I made these whole wheat apple cinnamon oatmeal muffins. I got the recipe from Pinterest. Big shocker there, I know. These muffins were disgusting. My poor Lincoln kept asking to try them because he loves muffins…& cupcakes, which he probably was hoping even more so that’s what these were. But each time he took a bite, he’d quickly make his yucky face & spit it out. Not that I could blame him. They were tasteless. I don’t know where I went wrong, because they sounded absolutely delish!
Moving forward. I was visiting The Heir to Blair’s blog. She posted this [what sounded yummy] recipe for homemade oatmeal. Awesome. I love oatmeal. I’ve never actually made it from scratch, though. However, I felt up for the adventure…& let me just say I am SO glad I made this oatmeal. I think it’s going to be a new staple in our house. It’s freaking delicious!!!

My fridge is now stocked [at least for a few days] of wholesome oatmeal awaiting me each morning 🙂
