Today I want to remember and celebrate the life of one of the most amazing women I have ever known.
Jared’s Grandmother. Lincoln’s Great Grandmother.
She passed away last week, at the age of 96 years old. We knew her time was here, as did she. The 96 years she lived, she lived whole heartedly. She lived a full life. She lived in her house where she raised her nine children, up until a few days before she passed. As strong of a women as she was, she was tired, and it was just her time.
Jared and I visited her in the hospital the day before, and talked to her. We held her hand, and told her we loved her. I wasn’t sure if we were going to tell her we were expecting baby #2, but when she asked about Lincoln, I told her he was going to be a big brother in November. The smile on her face lit up the room. This sweet babe will be her 29th Great Grandchild. Amazing.
Lincoln was her 23rd Great Grandchild. She was smitten with him the second she laid her eyes upon him.
I am so thankful she got to meet our sweet Lincoln, and be a part of his life, even if it was for just 3 1/2 years. We will make sure to talk about his Great Grandma, and tell him how much she loves him.
I feel so incredibly lucky and thankful that I had the honor of knowing this women for 8 years. I loved her like she was my own grandmother. I truly admire what a strong and caring individual she was. She will be greatly missed, and forever loved.
Rest in peace, Grandma. Your legacy will live on forever.
