I think I’ve mentioned once or twice before that we built our own house. I really don’t know what I was thinking, but I wish I thought of incorporating a playroom into our design plans. We seemed to have had everything else covered.
Open floor plan with kitchen, dining area, and living room – Check!
Four bedrooms – Check!
Two bathrooms, one being a master bath off the master bedroom – Check!
Oversized two car garage – Check!
Office/Playroom – ermmm…ohhhh, crap….
Yeah.
I know exactly where I’d like this room to be in our house. If we could just break down the wall in our kitchen and add an extra room there, it would be perfect. The door going outside to our backyard could be off that room rather than our kitchen. Sounds perfect. Unfortunately, it’s a bit too late. At least for a few years.
For now, my entire house looks like a playroom. I suppose that’s to be expected with a rambuncious two year old boy. I’ve been brainstorming ideas as to how we can contain his toys a bit more efficiently. We are thinking of temporarily turning what is now our office and fourth bedroom into an office/playroom. HOWEVER, once we have baby #2, we will need that room for a nursery. We have four bedrooms, however, I plan on always having a guest room. We have family and friends who live 2 plus hours away. When they come visit, they normally spend a weekend with us. I don’t want to give that room up! Although, I do suppose I could always throw a bed in with the playroom/office when we have #2. That is definitely something to think about! And now I’m rambling. Moving forward…
PLAYROOM INSPIRATION
I’ve turned to one of my favorite sites, Pinterest, for some playroom inspiration. I love these cubbies and all the bright colors that go along with it. I also love the little bench idea in between for a reading spot.
I think this sign is so perfect for the room. Possibly in a brighter color.
I LOVE these beanbag chairs. However, I have NO idea where they’re from. I love the color, and they look so comfy! If anyone has seen these, PLEASE share where I can get them!!
In this photo I really like the table and chairs, or stools for that matter. I think they’re from ikea.
And lastly, aren’t these colors just so fun?! They just scream “PLAYROOM!!!” I love everything about this setup. Lots of storage, a cute table/chairs set, and look at the alphabet border along with walls!
So now that I have some inspiration, I should probably show the hubs, huh?! After all, he’s my handyman. He built and designed our house. We have a few other projects in the works that need to be completed before tackling this one, but I think it’s definitely a possibility!! ๐

I love those bean bag chairs too! We recently just built a house as well, with plans to turn part of the basement into a playroom. With so much to focus on in the house it is still a big mess. Hopefully this year we will turn it into a functional space. New blog follower through TAT. Your little guy is so cute!

Those bean bag chairs are so cute! I would love to have a couple of those in Carina's room.

Great inspiration! Isn't Pinterest the best for getting good ideas? Let me know if you're ever having a hard time choosing a piece of furniture, paint color, rug, etc. for the playroom — I'd love to feature you on http://www.thewaffler.com

Isn't it fun to dream of "somedays?" I love the last picture with the floor to ceiling shelves. That would be amazing!
We don't have a playroom, either–just a nursery ๐
I would love for you to visit!

I LOVE all of these ideas, especially the playroom rules sign. How cute! We have a small 1961 ranch and are looking to move soon (2 babies under 2 and we are out of space). First non-negotiable on the list: PLAYROOM!
I'm following you now, after finding you on Mama G's blog hop. Come visit and follow back, but only if you like what you see! ๐
