Christmastime was always magical for me growing up. There were many holiday traditions that we had, and many of those I want to continue on with Lincoln.
Trimming the tree, as a family. My mom, dad, brother, and myself would decorate our tree together. We always had cheesy Christmas music playing, specifically The Chipmunks. It was always a happy time. A great family day. A way to spend time together, as a family.
Baking homemade Christmas cookies. I’m talking chocolate chip cookies from scratch. Sugar cookies where you roll out the dough, press with cookie cutters, and decorate with frosting and sprinkles!!
Watching Christmas movies. Again, together as a family.
Driving around to look at the Christmas lights. I cannot tell you how many times my Dad would drive us around different neighborhoods so my brother and I could “oohhhh and ahhh” over the twinkling lights.
Leaving cookies & milk out for Santa…& a carrot for Rudolph of course! For some reason, the other reindeer got neglected. It was all about Rudolph. Maybe with Lincoln I’ll incorporate 8 carrots so the others don’t get jipped 🙂
Singing Christmas carols in the car. My mom and Dad both would sing along with my brother and I particularly on Christmas Eve driving home from my Grandparents house.
Looking for Rudolph’s nose in the sky! I remember my brother and I having our faces glued to the car windows driving home on Christmas Eve. If we saw a red light in the sky, surely that was Rudolph’s nose!
Believing in the magic! Instilling the true meaning of Christmas with Lincoln. Showing him how magical this time of the year is, and believing in the magic with him!
What are some of your favorite holiday traditions?
