Not all sippy cups are created equal. This, is a true statement. I cannot tell you how much money I have invested in sippy cups for my sweet boy. I’ve tried dozens. My one complaint with a lot of sippy cups, is they leak! Of course, these cups say “spill proof,” printed on their packaging, yet for one reason or another, they still leak! Because I have vested so much time [& money] to find the perfect sippy cup, I figured I’d share a few of the ones I love, and a few of the ones, I don’t. Let’s start off with the NUK Learner Cup. This is a pretty basic sippy cup, and is perfect for babies who are just transitioning from the bottle, to the sippy. We still have a few of these around our house. I love them, Lincoln loves them, and they DO NOT leak. It’s a win win. My only complaint with these cups now is, because Lincoln is older, he bites through the nipple. If I don’t notice he has bitten through it, obviously the cup leaks. I’d recommend these cups for beginners. Next on my list is the Avent Soft Spout Trainer Cup.
I’m not going to lie. I bought this cup because I liked the pretty blue color. All in all…it sucks. It leaks. Blah. Do not fall for the prettiness of the blue cup. I really don’t have anything positive to say, other than it’s cute. Lincoln was able to open this cup at 10 months old. Not good.
Moving on, here’s the Munchkin Mighty Grip Trainer Cup.
This sippy has held up well. Lincoln’s been using this one for a long time. It’s never leaked for us. And, my sweet boy hasn’t even bit through the nipple 🙂
I know a lot of people who rave about the Tommee Tippee Explora Truly Spill Proof Cup.
Unfortunately, I am not one of those people. This would be my least favorite sippy cup ever. First of all, it is not exactly “spill proof” as it claims. It leaks like crazy. My other complaint is actually something I thought I would like about the cup. There’s a little cap that goes over the nipple portion. It is connected to the cup, so you can snap it open and close. While it seems like a neat little feature, Lincoln was way too interested in it. He was more interested in biting the cap, or opening & closing it, rather than drinking from the cup. Maybe I’m doing something wrong with this cup, since so many people like them. But for now, they’re a big PITA in my book.
Lincoln also rocks straw sippy cups. My boy is amazing, he can seriously drink out of anything. In all honesty, I don’t think I’ve found a straw cup that I haven’t liked. They all seem to do the job, and don’t leak!
This one is the Nuby No Spill Cup with Flexi Straw.
We’ve had this cup for a while, and it works great. Lincoln loves drinking his fruit smoothies out of these cups 🙂
The Nuby Straw Cup is another favorite.
And now, for my new favorite sippy cup….The Playtex Insulator Cup.
This cup rocks. Seriously. This also happens to be practically the last cup on the face of the planet I tried out. If I found this cup in the first place, I would have saved myself a lot of money. What’s neat about these cups, is all the covers are interchangeable with other playtex cups. They also “lock” shut…which means, no leakage whatsoever. The “nipple” part of the cup is plastic, so Lincoln cannot bite through it. They also come in really cute colors and patterns. I’m in love.
While I don’t think this would be the best cup for a beginner, it’s perfect for my toddler 🙂
