September is Thyroid Cancer Awareness month. I was diagnosed with papillary carcinoma/thyroid cancer in January 2009. My obgyn discovered a nodule on my neck when I went in for a pregnancy appointment. He referred me to an endocrinologist. Unfortunately, I miscarried that pregnancy a few days later….however, that little angel baby saved my life. Had I never been pregnant, who knows when it would have been discovered. I underwent a complete thyroidectomy February 18, 2009. This past March, I completed my radioactive iodine therapy to destroy any remaining thyroid tissue.
