Yesterday I had my NST scheduled for 2:30 and my regular bi-weekly checkup at 6:30. My mother inlaw drove me to my NST because I can no longer drive ๐ ….my stomach hits the wheel, and if I move my seat back I cannot reach the pedals…that’s what I get for being 5 feet! The plan was to go with her to my NST and then to meet Jared at iParty to shop for decorations for my second baby shower on Sunday. After that, Jared and I were going to go to my 6:30 appointment. Well, plans change….
When I arrived for my NST, the regular nurse who normally does the test wasn’t in and there was a fill-in nurse. She hooked me up to the monitors and left the room. A few minutes later she came back and asked me if I was crampy at all. I told her I was not. She said because it appeared that I was having pretty regular contractions. I however could not feel a thing. I asked her how Lincoln was doing and she replied, “oh he’s doing perfect!”…I love my little overachiever son ๐ She left the room again and returned maybe 40 minutes later saying that it still looked like I was having contractions, so she paged the doctor on call and she was coming in to do an internal to make sure I wasn’t in preterm labor…fabulous! When the doctor arrived, she did the internal taking a few swabs and made sure my cervix was still closed, which it was. They then had to send the samples to the lab and I had to wait there for the results, still on the monitor. By this time, it was 4:00 and Jared was out of work. I had to call him and tell him to go to the hospital rather than to iParty. I tried to sound as calm as possible because I didn’t want to upset him. I was surprisingly very calm throughout this entire process because I knew Lincoln was doing okay. He arrived to the hospital and was there in time to hear the results of my test. Everything checked out okay and I could leave. For what is normally a 20 minute test, I was there for 2 flippin’ hours!
We did manage to still go to iParty to pick up a few things for Sunday’s baby shower. But, then we had to head back to the hospital for my regular checkup. When I explained to my doctor my eventful day, he was pretty pissed that they kept me for two hours and even more aggrevated that they did an internal. He said that the NST cannot measure the intensity of contractions and if I happened to be irritated in the area, that would show as a contraction. I am currently on a prescription for a UTI, so that could have been the case. He said if there was any reason to be alarmed, I would have felt something. He also made it clear that if the regular nurse who performs the test was there, this whole ordeal wouldn’t have happened. They basically made a big deal about nothing, was how he put it. I also asked him about the Polyhydramnios. He said there is no reason whatsoever to be concerned about this. He said the average amount of amniotic fluid is 5-20 cm. Mine was at 25 cm. He said next week when they check my fluid, it could very well go back down. He assured me that I should still be able to have my baby boy at 39 weeks via c-section. Phew! He certainly calmed mine and Jared’s nerves a TON! We feel much better, afterall, he is the doctor! Next week I have my two NSTs on Monday and Thursday again. Hopefully the regular nurse will be in! Here is my pregnancy survey for 30 weeks!
How far along? 30 weeks 5 days
Weight gained? I only gained 1 pound in two weeks, which puts me up at 25 total.
How much does baby weigh? According to the ultrasound I had on Monday, 4 lbs 3 oz! Wow!
Maternity clothes? It’s all I can wear.
Stretch marks? Zip. Zilch. Nada.
Sleep? Still a wonderful thing. Although poor Jared, I take up 75% of the bed.
Best moment this week? Seeing Lincoln’s precious little face on the ultrasound, and hearing that there are still no signs of OI ๐
Movement? He is one active little guy!
Food Cravings? I actually seem to have cut down on my portions a bit. If I eat too much, my stomach feels way too full and tight.
Labor signs? Could have possibly been having some contractions, but nothing I could feel…
Belly button in or out? Flatter than flat.
What I miss? Being able to drive ๐
What I’m looking forward to? My second baby shower on Sunday!
Milestones? Still no signs of OI…that is a huge milestone for me!!
